HAMBURG, Germany / DEVENTER, Netherlands, 8 January 2024  1KOMMA5°, the leading European platform operator for CO2-neutral energy solutions such as solar systems, heat pumps and wallboxes, has entered the Dutch market with its acquisition of Zonduurzaam. The Deventer-based company, founded and led by the brothers Koen and Thomas Rozendom, is one of the market leaders for solar and battery solutions in the Netherlands, having sold and  installed over 10,000 energy systems.

“Koen and Thomas have built a super fast growing and successful company and they represent exactly the mind-set, culture and dedication we were looking for to enter the Dutch market,” says Philipp Schröder, CEO and co-founder of 1KOMMA5°.

Germany’s latest energy unicorn is the fastest growing energy company in recent years, growing its revenues by over 2000% from 2021 until 2023. The start-up aims to develop a European one-stop-shop for private and commercial customers, who want to use photovoltaic, heat pumps and electric charging at home as one integrated hardware and software solution.

By joining 1KOMMA5° group, Zonduurzamm can bring the start-ups entire product and software portfolio to millions of customers in the Netherlands. From the headquarters in Deventer and in total six locations including Rotterdam, Amersfoort, Nijmegen, Heerenveen, Zonduurzaam is operating in all major cities and regions in the Netherlands. With a team of 100 experts, the company installed almost 5,000 energy systems in 2023.

“Introducing the energy management system “Heartbeat” alongside 1KOMMA5° optimization software and integrated dynamic tariffs to the market will be essential to evolve our company from a solar-focused to a true one-stop-shop for clean energy and mobility,” adds Koen Rozendom, CEO and co-founder of Zonduurzaam. “We share the vision of 1KOMMA5° that customers want connected and fully integrated solutions instead of partial hardware components from different providers. Together we have the unique opportunity to accelerate the transition to CO2-neutral living in the Netherlands.”

The Dutch renewable energy industry holds immense potential. On the one hand, the ISDE program for heat pumps offers subsidies of up to 5.100 Euro. On the other hand, customers can benefit from the intelligent software platform Heartbeat, especially after the phase out of net metering in the Netherlands. In 2022, the Netherlands reached more than 2 Million residential installations, which equals to 25% of houses in the country.

1KOMMA5° is now active in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands and Australia. Together with the new Dutch partner, the start-up plans to further expand to also serve European commercial and multi portfolio real estate owners in becoming less dependent on fossil energy.
